AT Overland Equipment is proud to present the Habitat™ Truck Topper. Purpose-built for overland and adventure travel, the Habitat™ uses high-quality materials and provides a lightweight yet robust camping platform for your pickup truck.

Designed to fill the void between the traditional topper and slide-in camper, one person can easily deploy the Habitat™ revealing a cavernous and functional interior space. The design allows full standup room inside the truck bed under its protective, wax-impregnated, cotton/poly tent structure that holds up to the elements and wind.

The cantilever sleeping platform, supported by stout 6061 aluminum rods, features a comfortable dense foam mattress that supports up to 600 pounds. Weighing in at just 340 pounds, the Habitat™ is available for full and mid-size pickup trucks.

Standard Features

PLANNING FOR A TRUCK CAMPER

THE BASICS

  • Rubber bed mats: These mats go under your camper to prevent it from sliding, and protect your truck bed. We supply these for ~$100.
  • 7-way cable. This powers the DOT running lights on your camper. We sell them for ~$45.
  • Camper tie-downs. If not already part of the camper, you'll need frame mounts & turnbuckles. We recommend Torklift Locking FastGun turnbuckles, which'll set you back ~$1,000 for a set of 4.
  • Rear suspension upgrades. Depending on your payload, you may need to upgrade your truck's suspension. It can improve safety, stability & comfort. We'll talk through your situation to see if it's really necessary.
  • Batteries in camper. Whether your camper comes with a battery or not, you'll want to consider your power needs and how you want to charge the batteries (e.g. solar, truck, and/or shore charging). We recommend redundancy when solar might be limited by weather or shade.
