Step inside the spacious and well-lit Aterra, where smart design meets comfort. Its thoughtfully planned interior offers ample storage, best-in-class appliances, and all-season functionality, making it ideal for two adventurers and a four-legged companion. The durable honeycomb composite, paired with Tern Overland windows, heating and cooling accesories, and UV resitant finishes, creates a thermally efficient mobile habitation system built for the road ahead.
Engineered with a unique geometrical design, the Aterra balances exceptional strength and minimal weight, capable of enduring the most rugged terrains - from endless washboards to the worst roads on the planet. Built in Prescott, AZ, by AT Overland Equipment, they’ve spent over 20 years crafting the finest overland solutions for explorers around the globe. Whether you’re venturing off-grid for backcountry camping or intercontinental exploration, the Aterra XL delivers the unmatched comfort, performance, and reliability you need for your adventures.
As a preferred partner with American Expedition Vehicles, we'll work with AT Overland to facilitate a turn-key solution for your Aterra XL build, including the option to outfit an AEV Ram Prospector XL CA 60” cab chassis truck (3500, 4500, or 5500) to perfectly complement your camper platform.

PLANNING FOR A TRUCK CAMPER
THE BASICS
- Rubber bed mats: These mats go under your camper to prevent it from sliding, and protect your truck bed. We supply these for ~$100.
- 7-way cable. This powers the DOT running lights on your camper. We sell them for ~$45.
- Camper tie-downs. If not already part of the camper, you'll need frame mounts & turnbuckles. We recommend Torklift Locking FastGun turnbuckles, which'll set you back ~$1,000 for a set of 4.
- Rear suspension upgrades. Depending on your payload, you may need to upgrade your truck's suspension. It can improve safety, stability & comfort. We'll talk through your situation to see if it's really necessary.
- Batteries in camper. Whether your camper comes with a battery or not, you'll want to consider your power needs and how you want to charge the batteries (e.g. solar, truck, and/or shore charging). We recommend redundancy when solar might be limited by weather or shade.
Those washboards & deeply potholed backroads can really do a number on ya.
So start with TorkLift FastGuns. After that, make sure you dial in your suspension, and add recovery gear, like an ARB Air Compressor, a winch, and some MaxTrax.
